For years we’ve worked with our neighbors to end for good the current asphalt and concrete crushing/recycling and back filling operation and replace it with a blended neighborhood of age-qualified and traditional single-family residential homes located within a large public natural open space and private recreational setting. Specifically, the plan for Rio Santiago includes the following:
Permanent Natural Open Space Area: Rio Santiago will preserve 48 acres of open space along both sides of Santiago Creek, creating the Santiago Creek Greenway Reserve. Additionally, a new creek-side trail will offer the potential for future connectivity to regional trails and Santiago Oaks Regional Park.
Private Recreation: A private, membership-based, recreational facility (such as a YMCA) will be established on 10 acres of the site. The facility would include an 81,000 square foot building and two athletic fields.
Age-Qualified Residential Community: Approximately 17 acres of Rio Santiago has been planned as a luxury, active-adult, age-qualified community which will have a combination of villas and high-end independent and assisted living units and will not exceed a total of 265 units.
Single Family Residential Community: A residential neighborhood of no more than 130 single-family detached homes, a new linear park and, and new multi-purpose trails will be established on 35 acres of the site. The single family lots would range in size from 6,000 square feet to 20,000+ square feet to complement nearby neighborhoods.
